Farm Visit Activities

visits-pan
All visitors to Tobruk enjoy a unique and real Australian farm experience. Relax and enjoy the day as our stockmen guide you through an interactive and authentic outback experience, full of fun, good old Aussie humour and sumptuous food. Below are some of the Tobruk farm visit activities for you to enjoy.

Sheep Muster & Yardwork

The mustering of the sheep to specific locations around the property requires the patience and skill of the stockman and the sheep dogs. The stockman provides the direction and the dogs carry out their orders.

The sheep are mustered and moved to the stockyards for drafting; this is often very lively and comical as sheep can be unpredictable and the dogs often need to work ‘overtime’ to achieve their objective. A demonstration is then given on the drafting of sheep through the yards by the dogs.

Used by the stockmen to assist in the mustering process, the cracking of a whip is not as easy as it looks. The cracking of the whip is achieved by the “cracker” breaking the sound barrier. Our experienced stockmen will entertain you …

The Aboriginal technique of boomerang throwing follows the whip cracking demonstration. Originally used as a hunting weapon, the boomerang at Tobruk is demonstrated and used as a recreational device only!
